In addition to the safety tips, NCMEC maintains a free 24 hour national telephone hotline where callers can report missing children.  The hotline is also used to report any tips related to a pending case.  Since its establishment nearly 20 years ago, the hotline, operated by highly trained answering service representatives, has handled over 3,373,000 calls.
