My New Role in the Bob Barr for President Campaign
When I have spoken to college classes, new hire orientation meetings at my previous jobs or just in casual conversation, one of my favorite things to point out is that you should never give up the chance to make a living doing what you have a passion for.
I’m one of the few lucky people who get to do that right now.
In June, I was hired by the Bob Barr for President campaign to coordinate efforts in twelve Midwestern states. I quickly visited several states and began working with great people in each of the states in my territory. The campaign also asked me to help in other areas – namely, the effort to get Bob Barr and Wayne Allyn Root on the ballot in West Virginia.
Over the weekend, Shane Cory called me from Atlanta, telling me that I had been promoted to National Field Director. I’ve been working in that role for several days now.
I have worked on campaigns in one way or another for over ten years, learning as I go and doing my best to grow personally and professionally with each campaign. Having the chance to put what I have learned (and continue to learn) into practice full-time for a campaign I believe strongly in is something I do not take for granted.
I am thrilled to have this opportunity and humbled that Bob Barr, Russ Verney and Shane Cory have asked me to step up to a new level in the campaign.
Most importantly, I am excited to have a prominent role in a campaign that can and will have a real, positive impact on America this year.
I am still following the issues and needs of my hometown of Grandview and my home state of Missouri closely and look forward to continuing to work with the Grandview Transportation Committee, the Grandview Planning Commission and the Jackson County Public Water Supply District #1 Board of Directors as I work on this campaign.
Right now, “Missouri Viewpoints” is on hiatus while I work on this campaign. The plan is that the online program will return shortly after the election and resume the production of new shows on a regular basis.
For the next few months, please visit my blog on www.myspace.com/missouri_viewpoints for regular updates from the campaign trail.
Of course, I hope you also visit www.bobbarr2008.com for updates on the Bob Barr for President campaign.
